Ernest J. Sekerak Owner, PT, CSCS

Ernest is a local native residing in the Duman Dam area with his fiancee Kristin Setz-Borlie, and children Alivia, and Zander. Ernest is the founder of X-CEL Physical Therapy. Ernest established X-CEL Physical Therapy eight years ago in the Northern Cambria, PA region. X-CEL was recently expanded to encompass the Nanty-Glo area.

Mr. Sekerak received a B.S. in Health Science at Lock Haven University while pursing baseball. Mr. Sekerak pursued his career and received a Masters of Physical Therapy at Gannon University. Ernest was liaison to The American Physical Therapy Association. Sekerak received the renowned certification of  Strength and Conditioning Specialist. At the age of 28 X-CEL Physical Therapy was established. Ernest was vice president of the Northern Cambria Business Alliance (NCABA) and a Member of the Patient Safety Committee of Miner’s Medical Center. With such community support X-Treme Fitness was opened in Northern Cambria. Mr. Sekerak was fortunate to receive the “Foremost Under Forty” award for prospect businessman. Sekerak is now the Assistant Senior High Boys’s baseball coach for the Blacklick Valley School District and coaches a travel baseball team with Super Swing Baseball. Mr. Sekerak is involved with multiple sports teams at different levels of play.

Sekerak has several specialties and has also completed additional training in the following areas:

    • Direct Access Certification, which allows him to see patients without a physician referral

Dr. Lucas T. Bradley DPT, ATC, Clinical Director

Dr. Bradley, a Carrolltown native, has been a part of X-CEL Physical Therapy since September 2009. Dr. Bradley received his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While at IUP Lucas assisted with IUP baseball camps, swimming classes for the physically and mentally disabled, and numerous research projects. After graduating from IUP, Lucus continued his education at Gannon University, where he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree. At Gannon, Lucas was the graduate assistant athletic training team for the 2004 AFC North Champion and franchise record setting 15-1 Pittsburgh Steelers. Dr. Bradley’s educational background and work experience has enhanced X-CEL’s ability to treat sports related injuries. Dr. Bradley currently resides in Ebensburg, PA with his two children.

Bradley has several specialties and also completed training in the following areas:

Dr. Nazarak

Dr. Nazarak, a Belsano native, received a B.S in General Science: PT Articulation at Mount Aloysius College. While at the Mount, Joseph lettered as a four year starter on the golf team and dedicated his senior capstone research project towards treatment of individuals with knee osteoarthritis. After graduating from the Mount, Joseph continued his education at Gannon University, where he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2018. At Gannon, Joseph participated in a weekly community based program near Gannon, where exercise programs were created and taught to various individuals at local retirement homes. Dr. Nazarak also focused his extra time at Gannon on research projects geared towards the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, advanced shoulder impairments, and dry needling procedures. Outside of the working environment, you may be able to catch Dr. Nazarak out golfing or doing his favorite hobbies that include racing motocross and competing in BMX events.

Jill Bednarski PTA

Jill Bednarski of Ebensburg, received her Associate Degree of Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physical Therapy Assistant from Mount Aloysius College. She attended Mount Aloysius from 2002-2006, competing in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference for three consecutive volleyball seasons, including the 2002 USCAA Final Four. Jill was also a volunteer coach in 2010 and Assistant Coach from 2014-2016 for the Mount Aloysius Volleyball seasons. Jill joined X-CEL Physical Therapy in January 2012. She has considerable clinical experience from previous employment at Somerset Hospital, specializing in outpatient Physical Therapy at the Somerset Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. She was fortunate to work with some of the best high school and collegiate sports trainers around.

Bednarski completed additional training in the following areas:

  • Women’s health issues consisting of options for urinary and bowel incontinence, pelvis pain or floor dysfunctions

Mary Jo Fry PTA

Mary Jo Fry earned her Associate Degree of Physical Therapy Assistant from Pennsylvania State University in 2000. She has 16 years of experience and has fulfilled the requirement to earn her indirect supervision license as a PTA. She is certified in Fascial Movement Taping Level 1, known as Kinesiotaping, and specialized in Lymphedema control. She was a travel PRN PTA for the last 13 years and joined X-CEL Physical Therapy in December 2014. Mary Jo enjoys kayaking, camping, coaching and spending time with her family.

Fry has specialties and training in the following areas:

Melanie A. Knarr ATC and Sports Medicine

Melanie offers more than 20 years of athletic training and sports medicine experience to student-athletes and clients of X-CEL Physical Therapy of Northern Cambria. Her extensive athletic training and sports medicine work has included injury-assessment, rehabilitation and conditioning of professional ice hockey players, world class marathoners, and hundreds of NCAA collegiate and high school athletes. After graduating, she provided athletic training and sports medicine services to several local high schools and colleges, including Northern Cambria, Blacklick Valley, Penn Cambria, Mount Aloysius College, and Saint Vincent College. She has also provided sports medicine services for the ECHL, the Pittsburgh Marathon, and AAU basketball. She has provided athletic training services to Northern Cambria for more than 10 years, including supports for two girls’ volleyball state champions, two state runner-up girls’ basketball teams, and multiple district and state playoff teams. Melanie currently resides in Ebensburg with her husband, Jay, and their three children, Lydia, Ethan and Victoria.

Brooke Barrett MT

Brooke Barrett is a Technician/Massage Therapist. She has been with our company since April of 2009. She previously worked at CLN Massage Clinic and studied there as well, where she was valedictorian of her class. She lives with her husband and two children in the Westover area.

Elaine Sekerak Office Manager

Elaine oversees daily operations and financial management of X-CEL Physical Therapy for both of our facilities. Elaine’s role is an important part of our success.

Carrie Wojno Billing Specialist

Carrie currently resides in Northern Cambria with her husband and two children. Carrie has been active in the medical field of Office Administration and Medical Insurance Billing for over 16 years. She graduated from Career Step’s Medical Billing and Coding Program with High Honors. Carrie has been with X-CEL Physical Therapy since 2013 where she started out as an Office Administrator and has since moved in to a role as a Billing Specialist for both of our operating clinics. Carrie is very detailed oriented, an instrumental skill for success in the medical billing field. She has strong skills in analyzing insurance issues and finding solutions in a timely efficient manner. She enjoys working in medical billing because of the vast variety of situations she finds herself in; whether with insurance companies, patients, or her co-workers. She is eager to broaden and apply her knowledge alongside the X-CEL Physical Therapy team.

Suzanne assists with daily operations of our Northern Cambria facility consisting of scheduling, authorizations, and patient satisfaction.

Tyler McEvoy

Tyler McEvoy is a local therapist from Nanty-Glo PA.  Tyler earned his associate degree of Physical Therapist Assistant in 2013 from the Mount Aloysius College.  Mr. McEvoy has obtained the ability to practice under indirect supervision. McEvoy progressed his career working at several outpatient Physical Therapy facilities before finding his home at X-CEL PT.  Outside his place of employment you might see Tyler on the golf course or playing drums for a local band.
